You get 30 minutes…some of the more fortunate folks get a whole hour! The point is…you GET that time it so make a point to actually TAKE it!
There’s a group called “The Energy Project” who have launched a website called “Take Back Your Lunch” to encourage you to take that given lunch time to physically get away from your desk and actually eat your lunch! Studies have shown that folks who get away from their desks or offices, don’t talk about work-related stuff and really eat lunch are far more productive than those who cram food in their faces while they’re chained to their desks.
Afraid your boss would think you’re a slacking off just because you actually took your lunch outside? Here’s what the article from CNN said about helping your boss understand:
“You might point out {to your Boss} that Take Back Your Lunch is the brainchild of Energy Project’s founder Tony Schwartz, who has consulted on boosting workforce productivity with dozens of big successful outfits — like Google, Sony, Ford, Ernst & Young, Gillette, and the Cleveland Clinic. Schwartz also is the author of a fascinating new book, The Way We’re Working Isn’t Working: The Four Forgotten Needs That Energize Great Performance (Free Press, $28.00).”
